Sonata erotica – Haste Lust? – TONALi Festival / Latenightkonzert
- Classical Music
program
We live in a society in which depictions of pleasure are omnipresent. In films, music and advertising, we are confronted with variations and supposed conventions of pleasure. But finding words for one's own pleasure in order to consensually explore and experience it is often accompanied by feelings of shame and insecurity.
Who dares to be a “creep”?
The performance “Sonata erotica – Haste Lust?” searches for sound and language for individual experiences of pleasure and opens a musical
A safe space to explore your own lustful thoughts. The musical source material is the vocal work "Sonata Erotica - Solo for Female Mother Trumpet" by Erwin Schulhoff (1894-1942). First performed in Saxony in 1919, the piece disappeared into the archives for decades. It is time for this Dadaist work to celebrate its lustful comeback.
However, the spirit of times gone by has also left questionable traces in this work. Let us try to broaden Schulhoff's "Sonata erotica" to include contemporary perspectives.
So: Do you fancy it?
