Piano Recital with Stefan Bonev
- Classical Music
Stefan Bonev from Bulgaria introduces himself at the series of Kawai concerts at the Alfred Schnittke Academy. The pianist received his first lessons in Pleven in the north of the country before he went to Hamburg in 2012 and studied first with Stepan Simonian and, from 2019, with Alexander Madzar.
Bonev last caused a stir internationally in 2023 when he won first prize and the audience prize at the piano competition in Epinal, France. He also won the Liszt Prize at the Franz Liszt Competition in Weimar and the "grand prize" at the Franz Schubert Competition in Russe, Bulgaria. He recently received a scholarship that enabled him to make his debut at the Elbphilharmonie. In April he performed Peter Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. The Russian composer is also represented in Bonev's recital with excerpts from the "Seasons". The fact that the program does not consist of unknown gems, but rather of frequently performed works, shows that the young pianist does not want to hide behind the greats of his craft.
