„Klassik meets Burlesque“ – Abschlusskonzert des PHOENiX festivals
- Classical Music
The first PHOENiX festival comes to an end with an extraordinary concert program... Classical meets burlesque! The Jewish Chamber Orchestra Hamburg (JCO HH) under the direction of Annalena Hösel plays the dance grotesque "The Moonstruck" (1925) by Erwin Schulhoff. The burlesque icon Lolita Va Voom performs to the rhythms of tap, tango and jazz!
Another highlight of the program is the premiere of a new work based on the text “Love” by Liddy Bacroff, a transgender person who was persecuted and murdered under the Nazi regime. The composer is Emanuel Meshvinski, the artistic director of the JCO HH.
Works by composers A. Zemlinsky, EW Korngold, H. Eisler and E. Moritz provide insight into the diversity of banned music.
