JazzAmen presents: A Family Affair
Ella & Kjell feat. Ingolf Burkhardt

In recent years, the duo "Ella & Kjell" has earned a firm place in the music scene and in the hearts of not only northern German fans. Ella Burkhardt, named after Ella Fitzgerald and singer, guitarist and pianist who was honored with the IB-SH Jazz Award from Jazz Baltica in 2023, and Kjell Kitzing, guitarist, singer and winner of the Schleswig-Holstein Jazz Promotion Prize, conjure up an intimate sound that leaves room for dreaming and pausing. Music lovers up and down the country are increasingly enthusiastic about the two young artists.

For this evening in the JazzAmen series, the successful duo is joined by trumpeter Ingolf Burkhardt, Ella's father, known to many as one of the main soloists of the NDR Big Band and through his band "JAZUL". He has also been a fixture on the European jazz and trumpet scene for decades.

The trio's repertoire ranges from Gershwin to Joni Mitchell and Johnny Cash to Bob Dylan - boundaries are crossed with joy and fearlessness. We can look forward to an exciting and relaxed "Family Affair" in the Kulturkirche Altona!
