The exhibition DIALOG IM DUNKELN (dialouge in the dark) has been running very successfully both in Hamburg and internationally for several years now. Building on this concept, the exhibition DIALOG IM STILLEN has now been developed. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of deaf people by wearing sound-absorbing headphones. Deaf employees can also guide the visitors through the soundproof exhibition rooms. Interactive games are used to train the deaf in fundamental non-verbal communication. Hand signals and facial expressions are learned, as well as body and sign language. One learns to appreciate the language of the body and learns that communication is much more than just talking loudly.

The Dialoghaus represents a world without prejudice. The intention is for visitors to experience intense feelings that evoke new sensations, thought patterns or ways of acting. It encourages a positive social attitude, empathy and unprejudiced relationships with others. To this end, over 60 percent of the company’s employees are deaf or visually impaired and it helps to ensure that visually impaired, blind or deaf people can find work around the world.
