Moondoo One venue – many faces
Where the Beatles once sang for hours night after night, night owls now dance to international beats and impressive live shows in the club on the Reeperbahn.
A place with a long history. Where the Top Ten once ruled the club scene on the Reeperbahn, there used to be a hippodrome - a very special kind of amusement made famous by Hans Albers and which had its heyday in the 1950s. In the entrance area, which has since been uncovered, the name can be found again in a relief. In the Top Ten not only the Beatles were on stage, but also other greats like Gerry and the Peacemakers, Dave Dee, Dozy and many more. In the 70s, it was mainly the punks who met here and the place came under special police surveillance due to various incidents until it closed its doors for the time being in the 90s. It was followed by La Cage, Titty Twister and a few more attempts to give this place a new purpose. It took a complete gutting and a rather long rebuilding phase before the spirits left these walls and the almost virgin Moondoo of today opened. Today, not only an elegant nightclub can be discovered there, but also outstanding DJs who conjure up fabulous nights with their live sessions.
