Since 1990 the Molotow inspires fans of indie, punk, post-rock, with live concerts and brings internationally known bands on stage. Famous bands like The White Stripes, Mumford & Sons, The Hives, Mando Diao, Wir sind Helden and much more already played at the club at St. Pauli before they got commercially successful.

For the 13th time, Clubkombinat Hamburg e.V. honoured the Hanseatic city's club and event scene in eleven categories in 2023. Molotow was one of three nominated clubs to win the "Best Club of the Year 2023" award and the "Favourite Club 2023" audience award.
