Why do we call them ‘jeans’? The story begins more than 400 years ago in the Italian city of Genoa, the French name for which is ‘Gênes’. Over time, this name was corrupted, eventually becoming ‘jeans’ when pronounced with an American accent. Indeed, the shop’s name itself is a throwback to the unique origins of this now globally popular garment, the history and heritage of which is palpable as soon as you cross the threshold. Passing on this legacy to its customers is without doubt Blue de Gênes’ ultimate goal.
