Whoever dines at the Vegan Eagle will agree: This restaurant is living proof that vegan food has nothing to do with abstinence, but rather with enjoyment and real culinary flights of fancy.
Happy veggie! Vegan food is a major trend – but there are still relatively few restaurants in Germany that have an exclusively vegan menu and yet aim for high culinary standards at the same time. The Vegan Eagle is a commendable exception, because here, food is prepared with love and passion – making the somewhat lengthy trip to Hamburg-Langenhorn very worthwhile.
The restaurant is located in a cosy, free-standing building. The interior is original – simple furniture, wooden floors and a ceiling with Asian motifs, which were taken over unchanged from the Chinese restaurant which was housed here previously. There is also a little bit of “Wild West” flair: the menus have been stuck inside old Lucky Luke comics.
The food and drink offer is also a wild ride through all cultures and nationalities: you can order delicious oat-based burgers, Asian soups, Californian appetizers – but also a surprisingly tasty vegan interpretation of the popular sailors’ dish lobscouse.
Freshness is especially important to the founder Konstantin Elser, and for this reason, the Vegan Eagle doesn’t just have its own herb garden – the menu is also adapted to the seasons.
The five-page drinks menu is impressive: here, you can find not only an expansive selection of tea and coffee, but also bitter lemonades, high-proof drinks such as cinnamon liqueur and grappa, and a small but sophisticated selection of wines from Germany, Austria, France and Spain.
Whoever dines at the Vegan Eagle will agree: This restaurant is living proof that vegan food has nothing to do with abstinence, but rather with enjoyment and real culinary flights of fancy.
