The community of Jork is also affectionately called “Capital of the Alte Land”, as it lies amidst Germany's largest contiguous fruit-growing area. The Jork town hall, whose wedding hall and burgermeister’s room are in the Altländer style.
The Altländer Museum, on the other hand, illustrates the former Alten Land inhabitants’ ways of life and work.
