Naturschuzgebiete Duvenwischen & Volksdorfer Teichwiesen
Beetles, butterflies and birds, including many endangered species, can be found in the marshes, swamps and moorland forests of the Duvenwischen nature reserve. Over 550 different species of beetle alone crawl through the damp meadows.
Our tip: A hike along the Moorbek to the Lottbek reservoir is particularly beautiful.
You can continue an extended walk in the secluded nature of Duvenwischen in the adjacent Heidkoppelmoor nature reserve in Schleswig-Holstein. On the other side, take a walk through Katthorstpark to the Volksdorfer Teichwiesen nature reserve. The gentle valley meadow was once created by meltwater during the Ice Age. In spring, if you are lucky, you can watch a wonderful natural spectacle when the male moor frogs turn blue to mate.
