The Klövensteen is a protected forest area on the western border of Hamburg.

The forest Klövensteen is the largest green recreation area in Altona. Not far from the hustle and bustle of the big city, those seeking peace and quiet will find a large natural idyll here.

Experience for young and old

Only 18 kilometres from Hamburg's city centre, 580 hectares of pure woodland rise up in the middle of the Hamburg-Altona district. In addition to many kilometres of hiking trails, there are many ponds and streams, but also a game reserve, a forest school, a large playground and the Schnakenmoor nature reserve to explore. With a bit of luck you can observe many animals in their natural environment. Directly adjacent to the forest area is the Schnaakenmoor nature reserve, which you have a beautiful view of from the hiking trail.

Arrival

The journey is possible by car or public transport. If you travel by train, take the S1 in the direction of Wedel to the Hamburg-Rissen stop. From there you can reach Klövensteen on foot. Follow the Sandmoorweg for about 20 minutes.

CITY AREA PORTRAIT Blankenese & Elbe outskirts

The former fishing and seamen's village of Blankenese is situated directly on the Elbe. It is the perfect starting point for hopping on a sailing boat or on the Elbe ferry, or for taking long walks along the shore. Another highlight is a visit to the Treppenviertel (German for staircase quartier) with a spectacular view of the lighthouse and the Falkenstein shore.
