Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Classical music festival at extraordinary locations

Three months of packed programme awaits you at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: Experience music in unusual places at one of the biggest classical music festivals. Music fans big and small get their money's worth here.

Would you like to listen to the Sächsische Staatskapelle in the indoor riding arena with your tie and collar? The Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern await you! From mid-June to September there's classical music on your ears and eyes - at more than 150 events at over 70 amazing locations. These include ruins, islands, old farmsteads, castles, backyard remises and churches. And the feeling of being part of the family constantly sneaks up on you. While renowned orchestras and soloists play their pieces, the kids scurry over the picnic blanket in the garden and behind the half-timbered house the son shows his rehearsed dressage ride.

The program 2021

+++ Due to the Corona pandemic, there may be changes - the concerts will usually take place on a smaller scale, but on several dates. +++

From June to September 2021, the whole of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be dedicated to music. Well-known orchestras and artists will make music on stage. Many successful series of recent years will be continued this summer. To help you find your way through the wide range of concerts, we present some of the program highlights here as examples. This year's festival will be opened by the prizewinner in residence Nils Mönkemeyer with a piece composed especially for the occasion. For families with children, for example, the Children's and Family Open Air in Hasenwinkel Castle Park is a great way to take the little ones on a musical voyage of discovery. At " Tanz durch die Welten" ("Dance through the Worlds"), Uwaga! takes you through a combination of the most diverse genres. You can find the complete program here.
