The The are a multimedia synthesis of the arts that have always tested the limits of what is possible – perhaps this is why the project is considered one of the most influential bands of the 1980s. The lynchpin of The The is the British musician Matt Johnson, born in 1961. As the founder and only constant member, he has worked with over 300 musicians over the decades – including legends such as Sinéad O’Connor, Jools Holland, Neneh Cherry and Johnny Marr.
