Stig Persson - Geometry in Perfection
- Exhibition
Stig Persson is the first Scandinavian glass artist to be featured in a solo exhibition at the Glass Museum.
Persson uses a strictly abstract, minimalist design language. From the interplay of archetypal forms and materiality, Persson wants to create a mood in which a meditative space opens up.
The artist works with an abstract, constructivist expression in his glass works. The experience of the individual works is based on repetition, i.e. repeated shapes of circles, squares, rectangles or cylinders. Whether flat or sculpturally cast shapes, they are always defined within a strictly geometric framework by constellations of these basic shapes.
His works are made of solid cast glass, all surfaces are matte and convey a feeling of gravity. And yet the material is fragile. This wonderful, complex contrast reinforces the constructivist and abstract expression that runs like a common thread through Persson's 30-year career.
