“Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” op Platt
A drama by Tennessee Williams. German by Jörn van Dyck.
Low German by Frank Grupe.
It's Baas Papa's birthday. In his honor, the whole family gathers at his huge estate on the Elbe. But there is no jovial atmosphere. His son Fritz's marriage is dominated by his wife Silvia's longing desire to have children, while he drowns his life in alcohol.
Despite being loved by his father, Fritz experiences the envy of his older brother Gustav, who arrives with his extremely fertile wife Meta and five children.
Above all, there is the certainty that Baas's dad is terminally ill with cancer. Gustav and Meta are speculating on their inheritance, Silvia is plagued by unrequited affection, and previously unspoken truths are revealed between Fritz and Baas' dad. An ever-growing web of longing, hypocrisy, and desperation is created, and the conflicts are escalating. In any case, no one is spared.
