ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra / Bas Wiegers
- Concerts
Most of all celebrated for its interpretations of works from the 21st century, the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra has its finger on the pulse of current developments with its exciting programme for the »Elbphilharmonie Visions« Festival: under the leadership of Dutch conductor Bas Wiegers, it presents various facets of contemporary orchestral music that have arisen in the last seven years.
»I felt this kind of immense breath of this huge mass of sound, and I had the intense perception of it unfolding in time,« explains Italian composer Francesca Verunelli about her first encounter with a symphony orchestra. Her work »Tune and Retune«, which plays with the combination of harmony, timbre and tempo, evokes this breath.
You may be very curious about Márton Illés’ »Ez-tér« (E-flat Space), which was first performed in 2017 at the Donaueschinger Festival and was intended to elicit emotional and physical reactions from its listeners with his »Ur-Gesten« (Grand gestures). Goosebumps pre-programmed!
