Customs will be presenting itself with the operational vessel BORKUM. Visitors are warmly welcome on board. In addition to touring the ship, there will be the opportunity to learn about the exciting and varied tasks of the water customs service. Customs officers on the high seas and in seaports prevent smuggling, monitor the movement of goods, and collect customs duties and excise taxes. In addition to these traditional tasks, the employees of the water customs service, as part of the Coast Guard of the Federal Republic of Germany, work together with other authorities to monitor the water borders, particularly along the sea coast. Other tasks include environmental protection at sea and providing assistance in cases of maritime distress. Furthermore, Customs will be providing information on training and study opportunities on all days of the event.
