The sea rescuers are participating in Hamburg's PORT ANNIVERSARY 2025 with an extensive program on and near the water. The German Sea Rescue Association (DGzRS) is participating with the sea rescue cruiser HARRO KOEBKE, stationed in Sassnitz on Rügen, and its daughter boat NOTARIUS. The cruiser demonstrates its capabilities in daily demonstrations in front of the landing stages, alongside German Navy rescue pilots, government vehicles, and a rescue helicopter from ADAC Air Rescue. Guests can also tour the 36.5-meter-long HARRO KOEBKE at numerous open-ship events and hear firsthand accounts from the crew about their often dangerous work. The HARRO KOEBKE has been stationed in Sassnitz on Rügen since January 2012. Like all of the sea rescuers' work, it was financed exclusively through donations and, at 36.5 meters, is the second-largest sea rescue cruiser in the DGzRS fleet. In the event of a major disaster at sea, this rescue unit can accommodate many shipwrecked people below deck. Thanks to its extensive medical equipment, it is capable of providing first aid to shipwrecked and injured people at sea in the on-board hospital, in cooperation with marine rescue doctors. Special features of the HARRO KOEBKE include a powerful fire extinguishing system for fighting fires at sea, a helicopter work deck, and the ability to right itself within seconds in the event of a capsize.
