- Other
Visitors to the harbor festival are invited to come aboard for the Open Ship event and have the opportunity to view the "Dar Mlodziezy" at the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken, gaining fascinating insights into traditional sailing ships, where real craftsmanship is still carried out! The crew of this traditional sailing ship is happy to share their knowledge. The three-masted full-rigged ship "Dar Mlodziezy," translated as "Gift of Youth," is a sail training ship of the Polish Nautical University in Gdynia. Built in 1982 at the former Lenin Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, the ship trains prospective officers of the Polish Merchant Navy. She is the first three-masted sail training ship built in a series that includes the following ships: "Dar Mlodziezy," "Khersones," "Druzhba," "Mir," "Pallada," and "Nadezhda." This tall ship can reach speeds of up to 17 knots and stay at sea for 60 days without calling at a port. She has frequently taken top places in the renowned Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races (now the Tall Ships Races), as well as other international regattas.
