Open Ship 12-Meter-Rennyacht HETI
- Other
She is considered an icon of sailing and Hamburg's yacht-building tradition – the 12-meter racing yacht HETI. Designed by the famous yacht designer and shipyard owner Max Oertz, she was launched in 1912 in Hamburg-Neuhof. Ordered by Hermann Eschenburg and named after his daughter Hedwig (Heti for short), the racing yacht successfully participated in various regattas up until the First World War. The Hamburg Maritim Foundation and the "Friends of the Sailing Yacht HETI" association succeeded in getting the ship, which was in dire need of repair, back on track. Since 2005, HETI has been sailing the Elbe and Baltic Seas again – and is the star of many classic regattas. Her home port is Hamburg, but during the season, HETI is mostly based in Kiel.
