Slovenian conductor Martina Bati has had to cancel her guest appearance with the NDR Vokalensemble for health reasons. Heide Müller will now conduct the concert in her place.

Heide Müller is regarded as one of the young rising stars in the conducting world. By standing in for Martina Bati, she is now making her own early debut with the NDR Vokalensemble with contemporary vocal works from Northern Europe and the Baltic region. Sven-David Sandström’s elegiac choral music »Sonnets of Darkness and Love« opens the programme. Dedicated to his compatriot, the Swedish jazz musician Nils Landgren, wistful blues vocals and the warm sounds of a trombone rise above the muted vocal texture. Other composers on the programme are the Brit James MacMillan, the Latvian Maija Einfelde and the Finn Einojuhani Rautavaara.
