»My music is a fusion of genres and at the same time an expression of my soul. I would love to take it to every corner of the world and move people through it,« says Momi Maiga, a gifted Senegalese instrumentalist, composer and singer whose passion and talent build captivating bridges between ancient oral melodies and contemporary rhythms.

With the kora – a West African version of the harp – in his hands and a heart full of stories, Momi Maiga creates highly poetic music that weaves the rich tapestry of his West African heritage with the soulful soundscapes of jazz, flamenco and European classical music. At just 27 years of age, he has already enchanted audiences around the world and received numerous awards for his debut album »Nio« – an imaginative fusion of tradition and innovation. At the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Momi Maiga will be performing his new programme »Kairo«, which means »peace« in his native Mandinka language. Maiga’s music is far more than just sound, it is a heartfelt and soulful dialogue between cultures, a call for peace and a celebration of life.
