Swing and gypsy jazz a la Django Reinhardt

Mariam Kiria & Django Forever interpret swing and gypsy jazz compositions and let us immerse ourselves in the Paris of the 1930s and 1940s, when Django Reinhardt and the Quintette du Hot Club de France created his European version of the jazz of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, but also presented many of his own compositions with virtuosity.

Mariam Kiria's musical roots lie in the Georgian music tradition. After studying singing in Hamburg, she discovered her love for gypsy jazz through dance and has since delighted fans of Django Forever with her swinging singing.

The three brothers Jeffrey, Mirano and Marcel Weiss learned to play the guitar in the style of Django Reinhardt at an early age and have already performed with greats such as Stochelo Rosenberg and Wawau Adler. After gaining important international experience in front of large audiences as band members of the multiple Jazzecho award winner Giovanni Weiss, Since 2018 they have been presenting their own interpretation of Django Reinhardt's music. Oliver Zierke on bass is the only "Gadjo" of the quartet and was active for many years with the big band Stintfunk in the Cotton Club Hamburg.

Attention dancing swing fans: You can also dance the Balboa, Charleston or Shag today. We will set up a dance floor for you. To determine the best size in advance, please choose the dancer ticket when purchasing your ticket. Seats to take a breather and of course you can still find time to listen in between.
