Lips & Love - the world is grey enough
MicArt63's pictures and objects are a beacon against the dreariness that is spreading in many places. The solo exhibition ‘Lips & Love’ is taking place at the popstreet.shop gallery in Hamburg's Karoviertel until 2 November.
The colours explode and, as with so many pop art works, the content is complex if the viewer takes a closer look. Be it the multi-layered colours of the ‘Lips & Love’ series, an octopus in fluroescent pink or the works on the theme of Heligoland, where the artist spent some time during the ‘Annas Art Affair’ exhibitions and which he presents as prints.
MicArt63 devotes himself entirely to pop art, which he captures on canvas and epoxy layers using street art techniques. The Hamburg-born artist is fascinated by artists such as Warhol, Lichtenstein, Ramos and Rosenquist, who used the restricted codes of advertising, mass consumption, the highways and the urban jungle for their messages and transforms the art form into the present. His work Anna's Bananas Blue Sky was included in the painting collection of the Rickmers Insulaner, Helgoland, where works by great artists from the 17th century to the present day are exhibited.
