- World Music
Latin Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated cuatro player, mandolinist and music producer Jorge Glem is undoubtedly one of Venezuela's musical treasures. Raised in Cumaná, Venezuela, Glem, who currently lives in the United States, is committed to presenting the Venezuelan cuatro as a universal instrument. His amazing talent and determination have given him the opportunity to play solo cuatro concertos with renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic, SF Symphony, and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, with whom he recently performed at the Edinburgh International Festival. All three performances were met with standing ovations. In September 2022, Glem performed alongside acclaimed, multi-Grammy-winning composer and pianist Jon Batiste as part of his ensemble in his sold-out "American Symphony" concert at the unique Carnegie Hall in New York City. In addition, Glem has shared the stage with world-renowned personalities such as Paquito D’Rivera, Jordan Rudess, Rubén Blades, Carlos Vives, Calle 13, Natalia Lafoucarde, Snarky Puppy, Etienne Charles and many other important musical personalities, achieving the fusion of this traditional instrument with genres such as jazz, salsa, bluegrass, rock and pop.
