Klassische Philharmonie Bonn / Silke Aichhorn / Ervis Gega
- Classical Music
In the 18th century, serenades were considered evening entertainment at its best – if you weren’t going to the opera. And the programme of the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn should be understood in the same way: starting with probably the most famous serenade of all, Mozart’s »Kleiner Nachtmusik« (Little Night Music). It was composed at the same time as the opera »Don Giovanni« and was probably never performed during his lifetime. A very special solo instrument takes centre stage in Handel’s concerto: Silke Aichhorn, long-time chamber music partner of Ervis Gega, can be heard here on the harp. Gustav Mahler’s »Adagietto« from his Fifth Symphony, which will be familiar to cinema fans from the Thomas Mann film »Death in Venice«, is almost unearthly in its beauty, but also melancholy. The evening concludes with a rather upbeat finale, Dvoák’s String Serenade in E major, Op. 22.
