Kinderbauhütte am Winsener Schloss
- Workshops
Build a house like they used to do in the region - small and with your own hands!
This is possible at the children's construction hut at Winsen Castle!
Children can get active at the children's construction hut and try out and work with clay, wood and metal. As in earlier times, the children's construction hut works with hammers and saws, plumb lines and angles. Historical construction of half-timbered buildings can be tried out in a very practical way on a 1:3 scale half-timbered framework. Clay bricks can be made in scaled-down shapes and the half-timbering can be filled with wickerwork and clay mixture.
This is how regional construction can be experienced in a very practical way in the Museum in the Marstall - trying it out is explicitly encouraged!
The children's construction workshop opens its season on May 5th. After that, there will be several more dates, each with a different theme - so it's worth coming along more often!
May 5, 2024: Start of the summer season
June 9, 2024: Transportation
18 August 2024: Rafting and raft building (registration required! at 04171-3419 or info@museum-im-marstall.de ; at the Luhespielplatz )
September 15, 2024: Metal in house construction
Apart from rafting, there is always a 1:3 scale timber frame available alongside special offers on the main topic, which you can use to experiment with how people built things in the past. You can build the wooden frame, make clay bricks or fill the spaces with small bricks. You can also practice filling a clay wall.
The event takes place on the lawn between the castle and the museum and can be attended without prior registration. The event is free of charge.
Recommended for children ages 5-13.
