Joram Schön: Schimären des Glücks - in 7 Sequenzen
- Exhibition
The silhouette of a city is characterized by its tallest and most striking buildings.
Lined up horizontally and highly condensed, this pop-culturally influenced, almost
childlike idea of the city becomes a backdrop for memories, dreams, and longings: the
skyline as an architectural symbol of economic prosperity holds within it an abstract
promise of happiness and the unbroken will to trust in the happiness to come.
Similar to a celluloid strip on a film reel, the exhibition is told in seven sequences and
shows excerpts and precise observations of urban coexistence in the two cities of
Frankfurt and Hamburg. In paintings, drawings, scenographic models and film, Joram
Schön captures traces and places that expose the pipe dream of ultimate happiness –gambling halls, fitness centers, soccer stadiums and backyards.
The Kunstverein is a guest in the showcases of the Frankfurt off-space DAS GERICHT.
The first chapter of the exhibition takes place in Frankfurt am Main and is the second part
of a collaboration between DAS GERICHT and the Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof.
