Jeff Lorber is a pioneering pianist, keyboardist, composer, producer and bandleader and one of the most important representatives of contemporary smooth and fusion jazz, a combination of jazz, rock, R&B and funk. A pioneering Fender Rhodes pioneer, he joins the ranks of Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample and Bob James. Musicians such as Joe Farrell, Chick Corea and Freddie Hubbard appreciated the inspiring collaboration with him. Under his leadership, the band created a unique groove-oriented jazz style from the late 70s onwards and gained a passionate fan base inside and outside the jazz world. The band celebrated their first successes in the club scene of Portland/Oregon, which quickly followed international tours and numerous Grammy-nominated albums, which cemented Lorber's status as an icon of crossover jazz. The secret recipe consists of a combination of complex harmonies, unconventional time signatures and convincing rhythms. Lorber's fast-paced playing with great timing and pronounced empathy makes him a groundbreaking rhythm giver. In 2018, he was awarded a Grammy. "The whole thing was kind of surreal. After six nominations, it was pretty exciting to actually get the Grammy," said Lorber. In 2021, the album "Space-Time" was released, a kind of "supersonic odyssey" that owes its existence to the pianist's love of science, who studied chemistry as well as music. The trio will play music from their 30th album "The Drop" - music that is fun, exciting, uplifting and energizing.
