International Mendelssohn Festival
- Classical Music
An evening dedicated to the warm, often underestimated sound of the viola and its interplay with other instruments. Between Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Nepomuk Hummel and York Bowen, a round dance of fantasy, form and fine expression unfolds. Bowen’s »Fantasia for four Violas« in particular brings out the rare timbre of the viola movement. Schubert’s »Trout Quintet« finally sets a lively, virtuoso exclamation mark – as colourful, touching and surprising as the whole evening.
