Ichiko Aoba

© Kodai Kobayashi

Inspired by Disney and Studio Ghibli soundtracks, Ichiko Aoba’s music creates a magical, fairy-tale atmosphere. She is a one-woman orchestra. With her voice and delicate guitar, she weaves stories that evoke the nostalgia of childhood. After seven critically acclaimed studio albums to date, her latest album »Windswept Adan« (2020, co-produced by Taro Umebayashi) is her most ambitious work to date, incorporating strings and other instruments into her sonic palette. Celebrated as a cult artist in her home country of Japan for years, she has recently gained a rapidly growing global audience that has fallen for her charms and made the world’s critical media sit up and take notice.
