Herman van Veen sings his repertoire in five languages seemingly effortlessly. He first appeared on stage in 1966 and has been travelling the world with his performances ever since. No Dutch artist is as celebrated in international theatres as this artistic jack-of-all-trades from Utrecht: L’Olympia Paris, Carré Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Vienna, Admiralspalast Berlin, Carnegie Hall N.Y., De Bonkelaar Sliedrecht. You never know what Herman will play. His performance can change from one day to the next, as he has already demonstrated in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. The Hamburger Abendblatt wrote afterwards: »Herman took the Elbphilharmonie by storm.« Now he is celebrating his 80th birthday in the Laeiszhalle.
