Golden Ear Challenge
- Classical Music
This special evening combines an enjoyable concert, a listening challenge and music psychology research: as part of a research programme by the University of Oldenburg, the Orchester im Treppenhaus, which is known for unusual concert formats, plays a surprise programme. Via smartphone, the audience can subsequently rate their listening experience and, at the end, compete in the »Golden Ear Awards« competition.
With anyone, not only are our personal musical tastes quite different, but also our listening skills. So, music psychology research also concerns itself with and explores causes of these differences – to improve concert experiences for people with hearing impairments as well. After the concert, smartphone rating and challenge, the musicians involved and academics from the University of Oldenburg illustrate the results of their experiment.
Please note: this event takes place in German.
If you enjoy listening attentively, you are also in the right place for the concert with the Goldmund Quartet on 19 March in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall: two string quartet classics by Joseph Haydn and Robert Schumann encounter insider tips from the Romantic period and the present. Award-winning and highly praised, the four musicians are amongst the stars of the young string quartet generation.
