The Frankfurt Radio Symphony (hr-Sinfonieorchester), under the leadership of German conductor Matthias Hermann, opens its concert in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall with orchestral music which should sound like an Indian long-necked lute. In »Sympathetic Resonance«, British composer Christian Mason reinterprets the orchestra as a huge tambura. For this, he puts a grand piano in front of the orchestra, which is, however, not actually played. Instead, trumpets and trombones blast their notes into it and create a unique ringing sound.

Visions Trio Bonus 30%: If you buy tickets for three or more concerts of the »Elbphilharmonie Visions« festival at the same time, you will receive a 30% discount. Simply select »Visions Trio-Bonus 30%« in the shopping basket.

Brass players are also in the spotlight in the second half of the programme with Helmut Lachenmann’s »My Melodies« for eight horns and orchestra. Like no other, the composer born in Stuttgart has influenced our way of hearing and thinking via music: he reinvents traditional musical instruments, repeatedly discovers unexpected sounds and playing styles and appropriates the world of sounds. With »My Melodies«, he now shows us his way of hearing melodies: »In the concert hall, people sit as in a warm bath. But we turn it into a place for adventure!«
