Because on his birthday, of all days, Tom wakes up with a pretty bad headache, which is no surprise after the company party last night, as his best friend Freddy assures him.

And he also assures him that in Brausebrand he promised to marry not only his secret flame Annika but also the prickly executive secretary Janine. Of course, the two ladies want to wish Tom a happy birthday and are standing at his door, which doesn't exactly help him sort through his rare memories of the previous evening.
