Excellent! This is going to be fun because you've discovered the small hidden dead-end street in Paris' 5th arrondissement. Inside is a pretty red lacquered door. Then please go ahead. Climb the spiral staircase to the 5th floor and please take off your shoes on the horsehair doormats. Why? So that you can experience a fun, enjoyable evening with the French teacher Elisabeth and her husband, the literature professor Pierre. Elisabeth's brother Vincent and his pregnant girlfriend Anna, who is late as usual, are expected. Next to her is Claude, Elisabeth's best friend from childhood.
Vincent (an outspoken self-promoter) uses the waiting time to speculate about the first name of his future heir. The guessing game gets a bit out of hand and soon the ensuing argument and exchange of blows is no longer just about first names. Marital troubles are revealed, as well as long-hidden jealousies among friends. Big and small life lies are also revealed. Things escalate when Claude reveals one of the best-kept secrets of recent years.
The French theater comedy Le prénom (The First Name) by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière premiered in Paris in 2010. The German premiere in the text version by Georg Halser took place in the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg in 2011. There were also two film adaptations: in France in 2012 and in Germany in 2018. Look forward to a classic presentation with us.
