Ritual Dance Weekend Workshop with Stephanie Bangoura and Massa Dembélé

Look forward to a dance jam to get you started, and optionally, a whole weekend full of dance experiences, where you will be carried by the group. Musicians from Africa will accompany you live. Feel, express, and let go. Art, dance therapy, and spirituality flow together.

Friday: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Sunday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

In the dance ritual, we will create a safe space together where emotions are experienced and reflected upon in a self-determined way. Each dance workshop focuses on an archetypal emotion.

In the dance of reconciliation, we connect with the central creation myth of many indigenous traditions: The serpent was bored in heaven because it encountered no resistance. So one day it descended to earth as a rainbow. Thus, the connection between heaven and earth, between the spiritual and the material world, was created. In its constant winding, the snake connects and reconciles opposites. It is said that since then, humans and deities have been forever one.

We practice appreciation, openness, and acceptance of all that is. This promotes self-confidence and self-healing.

As always in Ritual Dance Pedagogy, all bodies and dance experience levels are welcome.
