Ritual Dance Weekend Workshop with Stephanie Bangoura and Massa Dembélé
Look forward to a dance jam to dip your toes in, and optionally the whole weekend full of dance experiences, where you will be carried by the group and powerful live music. In this live event, you can feel yourself, express, and let go. You will learn simple movements from West African dance that will help you ground yourself and straighten your posture.
Friday: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Dance Jam
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
In the dance ritual, we will create a protected space together, where emotions are experienced and reflected upon in a self-determined way. Each dance workshop addresses an archetypal emotion.
The personified impertinence is found in the myth of the fool. The energy of erotic desire is also part of the foolish. Boldness, playful joy, and abandon break through routines and conventions.
Values and boundaries are provoked and challenged to become stronger. When a fool enters the room, energy and vitality are freed. Their unpredictability creates excitement, chaos, and tension. New paths, thoughts, and possibilities open up.
We practice appreciation, openness, and acceptance of everything that is. This promotes self-awareness and self-healing.
As always in Ritual Dance Pedagogy, all bodies and levels of dance experience are welcome.
