Boulanger Trio & Omar Massa
- Classical Music
Astor Piazzolla revolutionised the tango. His music is no longer dance music, but concert music. He himself said: »I am a tango man. But my music makes people think – those who love tango and those who listen to good music.« The famous French music teacher Nadia Boulanger, with whom he studied in Paris in the 1950s, gave him the self-confidence and courage to tread this new path and develop tango nuevo.
The Argentinian bandoneonist Omar Massa and the Boulanger Trio met a few years ago in Berlin. Right from their first meeting, a strong synergy developed between them. Their music fuses the European chamber music tradition with the authentic sound of Buenos Aires. Just like Astor Piazzolla under the influence of Nadia Boulanger, they bring Tango Nuevo into the 21st century with Omar Massa’s own compositions. A spectacular encounter full of passion and energy!
