Ausgerechnet Sülze – eine Saline auf Wanderschaft
- Excursions & Hikes
Salt boilers, peat cutters, blacksmiths and wheelwrights, salt writers and salt drivers and many more shaped life in the heath village of Sülze for 500 years. Twenty generations have worked in and around Sülze to produce salt. Although the salt works were abandoned around 150 years ago, traces of this era can still be found today; but not at first glance!
Discover the treasures of this industry in the unique cultural landscape of the Südheide Nature Park with the true Sulter native and certified nature and landscape guide Gabriele Link.
With impressions and insights into brine transport, grading and salt boiling, the path leads from the models of salt production to the former location of the graduation tower, to the Kokturhof, today's Kathof and ends at the salt house. Here the exhibition on the last era of salt production in Sülze rounds off the walk.
