„AfroBeast Singeli Special“
Singeli is officially declared the sound of Tanzania - a hybrid mix of traditional Tanzanian music forms such as taraab and ngoma with electro beats that reach up to 300 bpm - extremely danceable, subversive, created for its own community and, like the urban space of Dar es Salaam, pulsatingly multi- layered. Founded 15 years ago in Mburahati, a working-class neighbourhood in Dar es Salaam. The raw, rushed and high-pitched sound has evolved from a fringe phenomenon into Tanzania's new national musical heritage.
Feat. Dj Sisso and producer Maiko
Their live performances are ecstatic and legendary. Dj Sisso & producer Maiko don't work with turntables or expensive DJ equipment, but hack their sounds directly into computer keyboards.
A combination that fits perfectly with the live performance: On one side of the stage, Maiko plays his Yamaha keyboard like a guitar - and occasionally behind his head or with his tongue; on the other side, Sisso bounces around with a computer keyboard full of breathtaking rhythms.
Live Singeli by Luciana Sky
She is a Singeli and Afrofusion artist. She lives in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and in Hamburg, Germany. She co-operates and works with the ‘Singeli Movement’ in Tanzania. Luciana Sky performs at various shows, bars and festivals. Usually together with her partner & artist Sammy John and her dancers. Her mission is to bring Singeli to the world. Therefore she also designs clothes & merchandise with Singeli theme.
