Advent concert by the Hamburger Liedertafel
- Concerts
The Hamburger Liedertafel of 1823, the oldest male choir in Hamburg, consisted exclusively of male singers for over 200 years. The choir was founded by the composer and music teacher Albert Methfessel, who composed the Hamburg anthem »Hammonia«, among others. To promote the tradition, the young male choir »Bengelsstimmen« joined the Hamburger Liedertafel association. As part of the »Join Generation: Experience Tradition – Shape the Future« project, the 200th anniversary was celebrated with a concert in the Elbphilharmonie concert hall. In order to shape the future, the women's choir »Tontöchter« was founded within the Hamburger Liedertafel as part of the »Create Future« project. This unique event after 200 years is now being celebrated with a concert in the Laeiszhalle.
