Small and hyggelig: one of Hamburg's most charming Christmas markets in the heart of Eppendorf.
This Advent, the Christmas Stroll in the heart of Eppendorf on Marie-Jonas-Platz opens its doors again. The centre of the action is the cosy "Glühwurm" punch hut, which invites you for a mug of mulled wine, apple punch or gløgg. While children take their traditional turn on the children's Christmas carousel and nibble on roasted almonds, the grown-ups meet up with colleagues and friends for a chat.
Enjoy sustainability
When it comes to food and drink, the Christmas market leaves little to be desired: there's (almost) everything your Advent heart desires. Christmas classics like delicious crêpes, freshly baked lard pastries, kale or organic sausages will warm you up on cold December days. The exhibitors come from the surrounding area and, in line with the new sustainability concept, have committed to doing without plastic and using green electricity. Many of the dishes on offer come from regional suppliers and are fairly and ecologically produced. For reasons of sustainability, flyers and printed matter will again be dispensed with altogether this year.
A big programme for the whole family
It is not only the children's carousel that will make children's eyes light up, but also a colourful children's programme. Every Thursday (always 4 p.m.) the Christian Angel opens his golden chest and has many a little surprise in store. Every Sunday (4 & 5 pm) the witch Knickebein will be our guest with participatory music. And St. Nicholas will also drop by for a flying visit! Choirs from the surrounding area will also be there to perform. Detailed programme information will be available shortly at (3) Weihnachtsbummel Eppendorf | Facebook.
Charity actions for children with cancer & homeless people in Hamburg
Throughout the market, donation boxes will be available at the stalls, which will be happy to receive a small donation. The donations collected in this way will go to the Fördergemeinschaft Kinderkrebs-Zentrum Hamburg of the University Hospital Eppendorf. And on Charity Monday, 5 December, 50% of the proceeds from the market will go to this charitable cause, which has been supported for many years.
