Bergedorf Christmas market A Scandinavian Christmas Village
The Bergedorf Christmas Market is a mixture of crystal-clear design and "softly trickles the snow" over Bullerbü!
Thousands of glittering curtains of lights create an atmosphere like in Scandinavia in winter. With ice-crystal clear air and cosy wooden houses, with bonfires and colourful northern lights. Under the huge old trees, scattered among many small pine groves, and in front of Hamburg's only real castle, a Christmas world presents itself with purist style elements and Nordic cosiness. The contemplative atmosphere of a Scandinavian Christmas village in a cosy snowy landscape with atmospheric lights transforms the entire area into a land of Astrid Lindgren with Pippi Langstrumpf, Michel and Ronja Räubertochter.
Scandinavian atmosphere
The classic Swedish-red wooden huts, lots of birch wood, rustic fir trees, bales of straw and cosy seating with fluffy furs in front of crackling campfires create a Nordic sense of well-being. The smells of typical Danish, Norwegian and Swedish delicacies waft out of the huts. Many traders offer special and rare gift articles from these Scandinavian countries. There are also high-quality handicrafts and Christmas articles to browse through and give away.
The historic Bergedorf Castle fits naturally into this enchanted Christmas world and is also part of the Christmas market at the weekends! Almost hidden away, in the middle of a pine forest, is the "Villa Kunterbunt". When Santa is home, the children can take photos with him and hand in their wish lists.
The Christmas market stage offers an atmospheric and varied programme such as the popular Advent caroling.
