24h Regatta auf der Außenalster Segelregatta
The first weekend in August is traditionally the time for 24 hours of sailing on the Alster! At the big ASV summer event on the Outer Alster, up to 30 dinghies sail for a whole day and a whole night. A great event, not only for the participants, but also for all onlookers from ashore.
The first weekend in August is one of the most important dates in Hamburg's sailing regatta calendar. This is when the 24-hour regatta takes place in the middle of Hamburg on the Outer Alster! The event is organized by the Akademischer-Segel-Verein Hamburg e.V. in cooperation with the Uni-Segelsteg im langen Zug.
Day and night
Since 2004, the teams have been sailing across the Alster for a whole day and a whole night in dinghies and small, thick boats. After each round of sailing, half of the crew must be replaced at the regatta base, the university jetty. The winner is the one who has covered the longest distance after 24 hours according to the calculated time. With up to 30 boats and 200 participants, the 24-hour regatta is a really great event with participants from many Hamburg clubs, as well as guests from near and far.
Spectators can enjoy the view from the Langenzugbrücke bridge, Bellevue Street and Alsterpark.
