The LICHTHOF Theatre sees itself as a production house, experimental space and venue for the independent performing arts. Artists from all disciplines develop and present productions here that are close to current events.

The LICHTHOF promotes broad artistic exchange across genre boundaries and provides inspiration for the local scene and beyond.

Experimental space and performance venue

A particular focus is on the promotion of young talent. Graduates of Hamburg's training institutes find space and support in the realisation of their first projects outside the training context and take their first steps in independent theatre here.

A place for social debate

The "Bürger:innenbühne am LICHTHOF Theater" has been established based on the conviction that theatre is a vital place for social debate. The production "Staging Democracy" in the 2017/18 season, which involved more than 60 Hamburg citizens, was the first project in this particular form. Since then, many other productions have been created - most recently "Gutes aus Hamburger Landen" and "Juden, Juden, Juden", which artistically explores the topics of Jewish Hamburg citizens.
