Performing popular classics as well as rare musical gems, Hamburger Camerata is an exciting, modern chamber orchestra that enchants audiences with an ever-changing cast of musicians. Over the years, Hamburger Camerata has gathered a loyal audience beyond the city’s boundaries.
“We carry Hamburg in our hearts” – this is what the musicians of Hamburger Camerata say about themselves – an ensemble that inspires with ease and passion and attracts a loyal audience in the concert halls of the time-honoured Laeiszhalle. The repertoire includes anything from baroque to modern, traditional pieces just like new interpretations, as well as rarities and crossover formats involving other music styles or poetry. Hamburger Camerata is a cultural ambassador and an integral part of Hamburg’s dynamic music scene. Founded in 1986, the orchestra is conducted by Simon Gaudenz who continues to inspire concert-goers with a changing cast that may include anything from a pure string orchestra to a slender symphony orchestra. Hamburger Camerata also delights friends of classical music at unique locations such as the Hanseviertel, the crypt of St Michael’s Church or aboard a ship on the Alster Lake. With numerous guest appearances, the ensemble also garners the attention of the national and international music community.
