The First Stage is an off-roadway stage in Hamburg-Altona, which offers a varied programme away from the mainstream with top-class productions. Originally used as a cinema until the seventies, it was misused for many years, including as a photo studio and supermarket.
In March 2016, the curtain finally opened again for his audience in the hall, which had been completely renovated without subsidies, making it one of Hamburg's youngest private theatres.

- CHINA GIRL: "CHINA GIRL" is an impressive acrobatical accompanied by the music of David Bowie. The collaboration between First Stage Theatre and the Chinese National Circus is bringing the show to Hamburg for the first time. The acrobatical tells a longing love story that is burdened by the conflict between rival ethnic groups. The story, which is based on Shakespeare's unique classic Romeo & Juliet, is set against the backdrop of contemporary New York and is captivating, full of suspense, humour and poetry.
- A Chorus Line: The musical "A Chorus Line" tells the captivating story of love, dreams and the quest for success of eight young artists on their way to landing an ensemble role in a new Broadway play. Impressive vocal performances, gripping choreography and a captivating plot take the audience into a world full of emotions.
- The Great Christmas Show (November 02 - December 27, 2024): Magic, joy, dance and music all resonate in The Great Christmas Show. Contemplative stories take the audience into the festive Christmas season, here you dive into a warm, enchanting world full of emotions. Old classics, but also new modern compositions and surprising twists such as rapping angels put the audience in the mood for the very special feast of love.
