Kansas City Symphony
The Kansas City Symphony, under principal conductor Matthias Pintscher, presents Copland, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff – a programme that bridges the American soundscape and late Romantic expressiveness. Aaron Copland’s ballet music ‘Appalachian Spring’ tells the story of the origins of European settlers in the USA and a boisterous wedding celebration brimming with folk-inspired sounds. Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, featuring Gil Shaham on the Stradivarius, evokes powerful emotions, whilst Rachmaninoff’s Third Symphony, with its rich flow of melody, ranks among the most impressive works of the late Romantic period.
